This blog wants to inform about the onsite course on Creativity and Innovation in the classroom, taking place at the Future Classroom Lab in Brussels (Belgium) from 3-7 July 2017. We invite anyone interested to take part in some webinars and to our daily creative challenges.
After this inspiring week filled with learning and fun, laughter and positive vibes, contagious enthusiasm and energy of creative teachers, the FCL is all quiet now. But soon there will be teachers there again, so stay tuned for news about our new courses at FCL.

Over the past week we used social media websites extensively to share our learning – Twitter, Facebook, Instagram.
We were very pleased to welcome Sabrina Vorbau and Tommaso Dalla Vecchia to the FCL Summer Academy. Sabrina and Tommaso, two outstanding experts on e-safety and coding, respectively, were so kind to lead two workshops for the participants. Tommaso delivered a workshop on Digital Creativity And Coding, whereas Sabrina introduced eSafety In The Classroom And School. Both workshops were very dynamic and engaging and greatly appreciated by all the participants, who walked away feeling energized, inspired and ready to implement new ideas in their teaching practices. We are grateful to Sabrina and Tommaso for their time and effort to share their expertise with our participants.
On the last day we presented digital stories with a twist – stories in which the reader becomes the main character who can decide how the story proceeds and how it will end. The participants wrote their storyboards collaboratively and then digitalized them by using our digital storytelling template.
As part of our final activity, the participants made videos and slideshows of their creative walk in the streets of Brussels on the previous day. We were delighted to see more than 20 inspiring and imaginative projects made by our creative participants. Well done, everybody!
In the morning of the fourth day, Elina Jokisalo, Project Manager from European Schoolnet introduced projects and activities of European Schoolnet.
Our main topic of the day was the flipped classroom approach, which we introduced with an activity that didn’t have much to do with technology – a lesson in origami. Yet, this lesson helped the participants see the benefits of the flipped classroom approach, which we continued exploring later in the day.
In the afternoon we invited colleagues from European Schoolnet to meet the participants and hear more about enhancing creativity and innovation at the FCL Summer Academy.
